I Have A Lump On The Back Of My Calf,

I have a lump on the back of my calf, a little larger than a dime,with a dark bruise spreading out around it. I did not hit my leg in that area and I didn’t see puncture marks, like from a spider. This happened once before on my stomach. The lump and bruising went away on their own. What might cause this?
