I Have A Male Friend Who Will Be 65 Dec.

I have a male friend who will be 65 Dec. 3. Lives in a basement. No windows. Wakes up with terrible pains which he says seems to come from his esophagus. Sometimes throws up what he says looks more like clear gooky stuff than food. Will not go to dr. Tries to diagnose himself. Thinks it's what he's breathing while sleeping: spores, dust, etc. after an hour of sitting up he feels better. Any suggestions?
