I Have A Medium Sized Splinter Wound On My Finger

I have a medium sized splinter wound on my finger that is about 5 days old. I think I got the entire splinter out but the wound was pussing about 3 days in and turning red. I squeezed out the puss and cleaned the wound for the last two days and the pus has greatly reduced but the wound is still red and pussing slightly when squeezed. what should I do?
