I Have A Mole On My Left Sideburn - My

I have a mole on my left sideburn - my father has the same and he is 86 years old - being a farmer outside a lot I have always kept it well covered with hair - I must have damaged it the other day as when i press it gently it hurts - it is no bigger just painful to the touch - is this normal?
