I Have A Pain On The Left Side Of My

I have a pain on the left side of my back about 12" down from my shoulder and about 3" to the left of my spine. It is a burning ache. Sometimes barely noticeable sometimes about a 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. What could this be and should I tell my doctor? No fever or blood.
