I Have A Patient That Had Multiple Surgical Interventions On

I have a patient that had multiple surgical interventions on her ring finger at the same time. The doctor pinned the PIP and DIP because he wants the DIP to fuse. He removed the FDS to the ring finger as well and then performed a flexor and extensor tenolysis. Why would you perform a tenolysis if you cant move the finger afterward?
