I Have A Pounding In My Head, Series Of 4

I have a pounding in my head, series of 4 in a row, last one loudest. This only occurs upon awakening and lasts about an hr. There is no pain, I can hear it even covering my ears. This has been going on for quite a few yrs. I have experienced a few new health problems and wondered if this could be related? I know this is very vague, I have had an MRI of my brain to confirm a head injury 10 yrs. ago and they did not address this issue.
