I Have A Question About My Knee. I Am Concerned

I have a question about my knee. I am concerned about it and would like some professional input. My knee has been hurting for about 6 months and I haven't been able to get it checked because I don't have insurance at the moment. I've never experienced severe pain, but it's a discomfort and I can tell something is wrong. It pops quite a bit when I walk and sometimes just when I bend it. I'm wondering if I tore something or what it could be.
