I Have A Raised Red Bump On My Finger, That

I have a raised red bump on my finger, that hurts when pressure is applied to it. It appears to have a center. I have shaved skin off, thought it was a callous. When I do this it seems to relieve pressure and not hurt anymore, but within days the skin has grown over, and it becomes hard and red and hurts again. What is this?
