I Have A Red Streak In My Left Eye (white

I have a red streak in my left eye (white part) that has been there for about a week or so. It is possible that I had an injury (getting hit in the eye with a branch) but I do not actually remember this happening and causing the streak. How long will it take to heal? Should I see an ophthalmologist?
