I Have A Severe Cough That Has Lasted For Over

I have a severe cough that has lasted for over a month. I have been on ampicillin 500mg and it feels like I have a lump of phlem in my throat that makes me cough the doctor listened to my chest but no X-ray! I cough so hard I can't breath and I throw up. What do you think it may be maybe ammonia ?
