I Have A Severe Cough That Sometimes Becomes Violent And

I have a severe cough that sometimes becomes violent and uncontrollable, I have tried DM mucus tablets, fresh ginger and even Robitussin tablets. I have some mild body aches knee, lower back and I feel exhausted after a coughing spell but I am also overweight. I've had this cough that has gotten progressively worse over the past few weeks.
