I Have A Slight Bulgy Vein In The Palm Of

I have a slight bulgy vein in the palm of my left hand that comes and goes. Sometimes it appears bruised. It sometimes feels tender. Since it is directly below my middle finger, I figure it has something to do with the finger which gets stiff and I assume is arthritis. Are they connected.
