I Have A Spot Where I Had A Rison(boil) That

I have a spot where I had a rison(boil) that has left a small hole where the core and all the yellow puss has secreted. I am in fear of an infection. Can I take SMZ/TMP DS 800 or do I need to just take amoxicillin to prevent infection? Or do you have any other suggestions that I can do at home to prevent infection until the skin grows back?
