I Have A Staph Infection That8 I Am Treating With

I have a staph infection that8 I am treating with bacterium and mupircin ointment. With the ointment I use it twice a day. After about an hour or so its begins to itch with increasing severity. It is causing reddening of my skin which goes away after a few hours
Should I stop the ointment?
