I Have A Stray Kitten That Has A Swollen Red

I have a stray kitten that has a swollen red anus. I took it to the vet and they have me putting sugar with a little
distilled water on it twice a day. It's been a week and it seems to be the same. Any suggests that won't cost me any more money?
