I Have A Swollen Finger Tip. It Had Been Inflamed

I have a swollen finger tip. It had been inflamed for a period (approximately three weeks), now it is not, but the fingertip itself is enlarged and has localized pain on one spot. It's as if something crept under the nail and lodged there, except that there are none of the symptoms of inflammation that one might expect in such a case. T
josthe localized pain is very annoying. Any thoughts.
