I Have A Swollen Lump At The End Joint On

I have a swollen lump at the end joint on the top and side of the second toe. It is painful when I press on it. It is tender with pressure, and red. It is not particularly hot to the touch. No fever. No sign of pus developing or infection. It has been there for a week. Otherwise I don't really feel it. There is no throbbing pain, and it's not painful when walking or wearing shoes. Should I just ignore it for now?
