I Have A Swollen, Red, Dry Itchy Burning Rash Over

I have a swollen, red, dry itchy burning rash over most of my face after 21/2 rounds of Zyclara treatment for pre cancer. My dermatologist prescribed Metronidazole Topical Cream to help but I've been putting off starting it since right before Christmas. It burns and turns my face redder. WHY would I use a medication where the side effects cause the exact problems that I'm trying to correct?
