I Have A Throath Cough..feels Like Irritation ..but Causes Deep

I have a throath cough..feels like irritation ..but causes deep hard coughing spells...during which I feel a tinging though out my Arms and across my chest. After the coughing spell subsides the tingling is so painful for a while after and my arm are really weak. I think the cough is due to post nasal drip...but why the numbing pain?
