I Have A Very Bad Cough, Sometimes Having Difficulty Catching

I have a very bad cough, sometimes having difficulty catching my breath and producing yellow-green mucus. My chest also hurts during these coughing spells and I have run a slight fever off and on. Is this just a cold or should I be concerned that it is something more serious?
