I Have A Very Sore Chest & When I Cough

I have a very sore chest & when i cough i can't catch my breathe, it's quite scary. Also have pain in upper back, a real deadening pain. My throat isn't sore (only after i cough a lot, but i have no pain as such in my throat) - Is this just a chest infection that will clear up?
