I Have Afib - My Heart Rate Before Afib Normally

I have afib - my heart rate before afib normally in the 60s- now it is in the 40s. I am on digoxin and metoprolol. It has been suggested that I get a pacemaker - I am 67. Is there anything I can try to increase my heart rate before moving to that step?
