I Have Always Had A Small Light Brown Wobbly Mole

I have always had a small light brown wobbly mole on my right side. Over night it turned a reddish purple color, is swollen to double its size and is painful to touch. Is making an appointment for dermatologist later this week enough or should I got to hospital to hear it checked now?
