I Have An Anucort Which I Was Supposed To Have

I have an Anucort which I was supposed to have discarded in 2009. I used one today and it has helped me a lot because I did not have any itching nor staining at my rectum. Was that a safe thing to do. I am now hesitant to use another one tomorrow because of the warning. What possible side effects can I have for having used one that is too old? Is there an over the counter equivalent of this?
