I Have An Absessed Tooth, I've Been Taking Penicillin Since

I have an absessed tooth, I've been taking penicillin since monday and still have an area on the roof of my mouth, it also filled my sinus denist is out the town and can't see a specialist for a few more day but shouldn't the penicillin take care if the puss/infection
