Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have an older friend who needs to use a catheter all the time and has it changed frequently. Sometimes the correct size is not available so he's had one put in that is too big and causes him a lot of pain and bleeding! My questions are: 1. Isn't it possible to order the proper size in advance so when he needs it, it's available? It almost seems barbaric inserting the wrong size! 2. When I heard this, I remembered I had been given pyridium a loooong time ago when I needed to be stretched, and it relieved the pain tremendously, but I can't remember whether I took it orally or whether it was somehow put directly inside my urethra. I also seem to remember that it turned my urine a different color, but I'm not sure. 3. Lastly, is pyridium still being used for this purpose? Your feedback is appreciated.
