I Have Arthritis In My Right Big Toe. The Doctor

I have arthritis in my right big toe. The doctor is considering a partial or full joint replacement. Since there is still decent movement in the toe, he does not want to do a fusion. How successful is joint replacement? I had surgery on this toe in 1997 for a bone spur. I never have been able to wear a lot of shoes because the scar is right where most shoes rub it.
