I Have Baked A Casserole And The Lid Started Melting

I have baked a casserole and the lid started melting over it but only edges did melt and not the center where food was. I was able to remove the lid all of it and no pieces of plastic are in the food. Is it ok to eat ? Do u think fumes can me harmful or chimicals?
