I Have Been Diagnosed With Trigger Finger On The Middle

I have been diagnosed with trigger finger on the middle finger of each hand. I was prescribed steroid gel and fitted for splints for the affected fingers 3.5 weeks ago. The pain has gotten worse, not better. I now have an upcoming appt with a hand specialist who tells me that I may need steroid injections. I'm not sure that I was given the correct diagnosis.
Do you have any advice or information for me?
