I Have Been Experiencing Groin / Upper Hip Pain On

I have been experiencing groin / upper hip pain on the left side and I would describe it as "twisting" pain, like my bone is being twisted. It's been on and off for two months now, not much pain though but it comes and goes, comes and goes, always on the left side except once on the right. What does this mean, should I have it tested?
