I Have Been Experiencing Swelling Underneath One Side Of My

I have been experiencing swelling underneath one side of my tongue, and recently discovered (a few weeks ago) what appears to be a hardened vein on the same side - also beneath my tongue. Like a small white noodle. My tongue surrounding the vein is currently quite tender and sore, and he vein does not seem to be present on the other side of my mouth. I have an appointment with a specialist in six weeks but this is making my quite nervous. Do you have any advice? Thank you.
