Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having a lot of problems with my menstrual cycle for the past few years, I am 17 years old. I went to my doctor and she gave me some birth control pills(I can't remember the name) but they made my stomach extremely upset and I was always vomiting. So, after that she gave a lighter dosage but I still didn't feel completely normal. My family is originally from Mexico and when we go back we have a family doctor that we trust a lot. My mom talked to him over the phone, because we can't go back to Mexico at the moment, and he sent me a 6 month dosage of 2 different types of medications. The first is Yasmin (drospirenona- ethinilestradiol) 3mg and I've been taking it for about 6 months and I've had absolutely no problems with it. It's the best medication so far that I've taken. And he also sent me Provera medroxiprogesterona 5mg, he said in case the other medication didn't work out for my stomach. I haven't taken any of those. So, my problem is that the Yasmin medication is almost done and I don't have enough time for my doctor to send me more of that medication because the mail services are horrible and I don't have any family that can bring it to me. Should I wait until I have family to bring me the Yasmin or switch over to the Provera until I can receive more of it?
