I Have Been Having A Sharp Pain From The Knee

I have been having a sharp pain from the knee to the top of my leg when I climb stairs. I also have some slight pain at the top of my legs when walking but not horrible. I was given a MRI a few years ago because of the pain at the top of my legs, but they couldn't find anything. The sharp pain is new however. Any ideas?
