I Have Been Having Back Pain For Several Years. I

I have been having back pain for several years. I was rear-ended in 1991 suffered severe whiplash and a hip strain. Since then I have gone through p.t. With no real results. In 2013 I blew out a disc at l4 l5 s1. Since then I have had several rounds of pt and epidural injections. The last one did not help. Now I have been using a cane. I had a MRI in 2014 and 2015. I'm just now started to see a Ortho Dr. He is saying no surgery. What else can I do?
