I Have Been Having Issues With My Gallbladder Since 1978,

I have been having issues with my gallbladder since 1978, and every so often I have the same issue, pain in the right upper quadrant (above my waist), and each time it resolves. My stones are big ones. How often should I get these checked out? I last had them checked about 3 years ago.
