I Have Been Having Some Respiratory Issues Lately With Very

I have been having some respiratory issues lately with very sticky mucous. I am now getting some of this stuff to break up a bit after a lengthy painstaking process of annoying coughing. I am not a smoker and I do not use inhaler meds for anything like asthma and I am concerned about some other symptoms like fever, severe headache and this abnormal cough. The mucous now has a reddish or flesh-like spot within a membrane that I'm really concerned about. I have never traveled to any other country and I do not eat raw fish or craw fish but I would like to have this mucous examined. What types of advanced tests are there that detect parasites and should I be concerned about any other symptoms?
