Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on 300 mg of gabapentin 4X a day for periferal nerve pain. This had started 2 months prior to getting a mild case of shingles at the base of my spine at the hip level. It was only a little larger than the size of a silver dollar. I received the viral medication within a week of having it diagnosed. The nerve pain started at my entire spine and then started extending outward. Now 8 months later it is over my entire body. Everytime I forget a dose, I've notice that the pain and the progression has gotten worse. Is it possible that the gabapentin is making the condition worse? Do you think that it is rebound pain? I started the gabapentin slowly from 1 a day for about a month because of the way it made me feel like I was drugged. Any ideas?
