I Have Been On Xanax 1 Mg Two Times Per

I have been on Xanax 1 mg two times per day or as needed . Dr. wants to take me off as I am also on fentanyl patch and 15 mg oxycodone four per day as needed for breakthrough pain . I have severe rheumatoid arthritis in my spine hips knees and as I'm getting older it is getting worse . What would you recommend for panic attacks severe panic attacks .? Friends have recommended asking about Ativan your take on this ?
