I Have Been Sick Coughing For A Month Now. But

I have been sick coughing for a month now. But they coughing has gotten so severe that I am having a lot of pain to my upper left part of my abdomen. Hurts worse when coughing or taking in deep breath. Any ideas? I don't want to rush into an ER if there is really nothing to be concerned with. But the pain is so bad when I cough it's bringing me to tears
