I Have Been Smelling A Smoke Smells For Several Months

I have been smelling a smoke smells for several months and it is literally driving me crazy. I do not smoke and am not around people that smoke. I mentioned this to my family doctor a few weeks ago but he basically ignored me. It seems to make me feel like I need to take deeper breathes. I am probably not explaining this very well.
