I Have Been Taking Valsart/HCTZ 160-12.5 FOR MANY YEARS, DOC

I have been taking Valsart/HCTZ 160-12.5 FOR MANY YEARS,
DOC said it was recalled due to possible carcinogen found in this med.
I have been given Losartan potassium 50 mg as a substitute.
retaining water now which I never had before.
Are these two meds the same?
