I Have Been Taking Birth Control For About A Year

I have been taking birth control for about a year now. For the months of July and August I messed up pretty badly on taking my pills and now this month my period started early went on its normal cycle and now im still bleeding. I'm supposed to start taking my pills again today if I go back on track will it fix my period and make it stop?
