I Have Been Taking Pariet For Years For A Gastric

I have been taking pariet for years for a gastric hernia. My last test showed that the hernia is gone. But the doc. didn't say to stop the pariet and I forgot to ask. She was a specialist so I won't be seeing she again. Do I stop it? and if so can I just stop or do I have to gradually stop? Shirley.
