I Have Been Using Chloramphenicol 1% Ointment On My Eyes

I have been using chloramphenicol 1% ointment on my eyes for several years intermittantly for blepharitis.
This was prescribed by an eye specialist, but I am now worried about such long term use.
I only use one application at night when my eyes become sticky and my blinking becomes unbearable.
The reason I am asking this question is because I have slight intermittent pain occasionally in one eye.
The subject of this causing glaucoma came into my mind, which is the reason for my worry.
I will go back to my specialist but I wondered if anyone has any ideas in the meantime?
Also why is blepharitis incurable?
