I Have Complained Of Heavy Period And One That Has

I have complained of heavy period and one that has refused to stop and my doctor has placed me on duphaston. Can I get pregnant while on it as I am really confused as to what my cycle is like now. its really messy. Just to know if it can protect me from pregnancy because I don't want any pregnancy now
