I Have Experienced Creaking Sound In My Left Knee For

I have experienced creaking sound in my left knee for over a year (without any pain). Last couple of weeks it got a bit worse as I cannot bear my weight on it when going up and down the stairs as it sometimes hurts on the inner side below he knee cap. Also e.g. unable to go down the squats. Apart from that it's just creaking with no pain when walking normally. I try to stretch it but it's creaking when exercise it. The knee feels unstable when on the stairs. I believe t doesn't look swollen. Could you please advise? I tried taking glucosamine and also put the bandage every day just in case.
