I Have Ge Reflux And Recently Stopped Taking Prilosec Due

I have ge reflux and recently stopped taking Prilosec due to the recent concern about long term use. iNitially I did not feel so well, somewhat nauseated and lots of heart burn . i have been taking chewable gaviscon about 6 a day. it has now been three weeks since I Stopped the Prilosec and sometimes I am tempted to restart the Prilosec as it I completely controlled my symptoms . i am watching my diet , today I was bothered as I ate a muffin and it lead to some discomfort. i took 2 gaviscon and Have been fine since. so I guess my question boils down to is gaviscon safe and I am assuming after coming off Prilosec your stomach needs to adjust to producing acid again?
