I Have Had 3 Blood Tests Over The Past Few

I have had 3 blood tests over the past few months with high platelets (512,000) high red blood cells and high or top of range white blood cells. My hemoglobin levels are high end of normal. I saw a hematologist and he suggested a test for CML. If that is clear then think about other tests which would be expensive. Does this sound like CML? I have also read about polycythemia Vera. Could it be that and why would we test for CML first not polycythemia?
