I Have Had A Bronchitis Like Cough For A Long

I have had a bronchitis like cough for a long time which occurs when I laugh, drink something cold. I get short of breath easliy. I am not a smoker. Should I be checked for asthma. I have made an appointment with my physicia as the cough is getting worse
